This week's notice sheet

Today - SUNDAY 13th August

Morning Services

At 8.30am there is a traditional Book of Common Prayer communion service in the Chapel followed by breakfast served in the Café. The 10.30am service is a more informal service with children and youth joining the adults as we all worship and learn together. Tea & Coffee is available in the Café afterwards.

Summer Service Theme

Over the summer holidays in the morning services we will be exploring the theme of Heroes. We will be seeking to learn from the lives of those who have gone before us in the faith. These "heroes" were certainly not perfect but they all did amazing things as they learned to trust in the one who is the true hero. This will be a series where people of all ages and all stages of faith can be inspired and encouraged to live a life that makes an impact. The 8.30am services will take the theme but keep the usual Book of Common Prayer format. The 10.30am services will be all age services with opportunities for fun, interaction and creative responses to what we are learning. There will also be enough familiarity so that nobody feels lost and apart from 4th Sundays there will still be Holy Communion each week at the 10.30 service.

6.00pm Evening Service

A quiet, reflective service in the chapel.

Refresh & Renew

Tonight at 8pm in the Meeting Room there is an opportunity to relax with others in God's presence and receive refreshment and renewal. This is a great way to get equipped for the coming week.

Closer

There is no Closer service during August but there will be an extra Refresh and Renew Service on the 20th August instead.

THIS WEEK…

If you know anyone who might value an opportunity to meet with others for a chat over lunch, invitations are available that can be given to them. We also need more volunteers, to help run the lunch and to give lifts to those who need them. If you would like to help in any way, please contact Sarah Rogerson.

Celebrating Lay Ministry 16th & 17th September  - NEW

At St Francis Church we celebrate that many people are active in a variety of ministries that bless our church and community. For the last three years Liz Gibson has been studying hard with the Diocese School of Ministry to train to be a Reader. A Reader is someone who has been called, trained and equipped and licensed by the Diocese to work within the local church (and other churches) to help with the leading of services, teaching and preaching of the church. Liz has completed this training and will be licensed at11amonSeptember 16that Doncaster Minister. Over the last two years Sarah Rogerson has also been studying hard at theSchoolofMinistryand she will be licensed at the same service onSeptember 16th as a Pastoral Worker. A Pastoral Worker is someone who has been called, trained, equipped and licensed by the Diocese to help with pastoral care. Sarah will be able to continue her pastoral care co-ordinator role and her oversight of ministry with older people. She will now also have the opportunity to be able to do home communion visits amongst other things. The licensing of Liz and Sarah is a cause for great celebration and it would be good if as many as possible could come to the service at the minister. It would also be a great support if as many as possible could be in attendance at the Sunday morning services on September 17th where they will both be playing an active part and will be formally welcomed into their new roles.

MAF has about 135 light aircraft which can land in deserts, jungles, on lakes, rivers, tracks or roads bringing help, hope and healing to thousands of people for whom flying is not a luxury but a lifeline.   We will hold a Coffee morning and cake sale on Friday 22ndSeptember to raise money forMAF, but meanwhile please put your donation in the box in the foyer.
