Morning Services

At 8.30am there is a traditional Book of Common Prayer communion service in the Chapel followed by breakfast served in the Café. 10.30am service is a contemporary style service with groups for children and youth. Tea & Coffee is available in the Café afterwards.

 

6.00pm Evening Service

A quite reflective service in the chapel.

 

Refresh & Renew

Tonight at 8pm in the Meeting Room there is an opportunity to relax with others in God's presence and receive refreshment and renewal. This is a great way to get equipped for the coming week.

 

City Celebration  

The next City Celebration is today at 6pm at thePowerHouse,Christ Church on Thorne Road.There will be a guest speaker who will be giving an update on the reshaping of the One Heart One Voice Network  as Ian and Alyson Mayer move on to pursue the things which they believe God is calling them into.

Chit Chat

Chit Chat will take place thisMonday 15th Octoberbetween

1.30 till 3.00pm, in the church cafe. Those coming will have the opportunity to meet with others for a chat, over a hot drink and biscuits. Members of the church family are there to welcome and chat. If you know of anyone you think would like to come please ask them! If anyone needs a lift or would like to learn more about Chit Chat, please ring Sarah Rogerson on 01302 535747.

 

Fuse Youth Café

Fuse meets onTuesday 16th October at 7.00pm. Fuse Youth Café provides a safe and fun hang out place for teenagers to enjoy time with their friends.  Drinks and doughnuts are often in evidence with opportunities to take part in fun activities and have the potential to explore matters of faith.  Please pray for Fuse Youth Café as they meet each week. If you know of any teenagers who might be interested in coming along please invite them.

 

Refuel

EveryThursdaythere is a weekly event designed to give a mid week spiritual, emotional and physical refuel. Meeting at3pmin themeeting room. Refuel will start with a short reading from scripture followed by a few inspirational thoughts. Then we can relax while listening to worship music in the awareness of God's love and peace. Finishing with the opportunity to receive prayer ministry in a relaxed way in order to complete the mid-week refuel.

 

MU Beetle DriveSaturday 20th October

Please join us for an evening of fun on Saturday 20th October at 6pm.  All proceeds will go to AFIA the MU project.  Flyers are available in the café for further information.

Morning Prayer/Prayer Requests

Morning Prayer is held daily in the Chapel at the following times:

Monday 10.15am,  Tuesday, Thursday and Friday Morning Prayer is at 9.30 am.  Saturdays Morning Prayer is at 9.00 am, if you are unable to get to Morning Prayer, you can pray and read scripture online:   https://www.churchofengland.org/prayer-worship/join-us-in-daily-prayer.aspx  On Wednesday mornings we have a service of Holy Communion in the Chapel at 9.30 am.

If you have a specific prayer request please fill in a slip and pop it in the prayer box. If you have an urgent and emergency prayer request please text 07493191852 with details of your prayer request.  If you would like to be one of the people who prays for any of these prayer requests, come along to morning prayer or text your name and the phrase "I'm happy to pray"  to 07493191852.

 

Coffee Morning Big Thank You to All - NEW

Eileen and Malcolm would like to say a big Thank You to all who supported the Coffee Morning in aid of RwandaChild earlier in the month.  Thank you also to all who helped, especially to the members of 'Mustard Seed' who baked, served and helped on the day.  In all (and including money given last Sunday morning),£331.44was raised, which will go straight to the RwandaChild Sponsorship Programme.  For details of the Scheme simply search online for rwandachild.com.

  

Growth Groups - NEW

Growth groups are an important part of the life of St Francis Church. They are places of care, support and encouragement. They are also places where we can get to know each other well and help one another to grow in faith. If you are not currently in a group head to the groups part of the website to find out more details./about-us/groups.aspx 

 

Mary's Meals Backpack Project - NEW

Mary's meals is a charity that is making a remarkable difference in some of the poorest parts of the world. Through the simple idea of giving children a meal based at a school, the charity is dealing with the physical need of hunger but also ensures that children are attending school and therefore providing a vital means for escaping poverty. This year instead of publicising the Shoeboxes appeal which we have done for many years Richard is encouraging people to consider supporting the Mary's Meal's backpack appeal. https://www.marysmeals.org.uk/get-involved/campaigns/the-backpack-project This is to help the children who are now attending school but do not have any equipment. We have already bought some simple backpacks and if people wanted to add notepad, pencil, pens, crayons, eraser, ruler. sharpener, pencil case, small towel,shorts, t shirt, flip flops,soap, toothbrush, small ball, spoon. If you want to take part please begin collecting! Details about the collection and distribution of the backpacks to follow. 

 

Calling all Musicians!

Come and join our Community Band!  It doesn't matter what instrument you play, or what age you are!  Come along and enjoy the fun.  Rehearsals are on the second Monday of every month at 7.30pm from November 12th onwards.  We meet at59 Ellers Avenue.  For more information contact John Stones on 07715385844.

Special Service and Peace Party -11th November

On the 11th November 2018, special Remembrance Serviceswill be held around the country. Many will be followed byPeace Parties. Join with us at St Francis and the wider community as we remember that it is 100 years since the end of the First World War, in which lives were changed irrevocably and millions were killed or wounded. Put the date in your diaries and invite your friends, neighbours and relations to the service, to the lunch or both.  Tickets will be available for collection in the cafe on the three Saturdays prior to this event. There is no charge but there will be an opportunity to make a donation on the day.

 

Centenary Youth Work Funding

Thank you to everyone who has already donated towards the Centenary youth work fund- we should start colouring in the jenga bricks very soon!  The fund is still open and if you wish to give towards supporting the youth work in our community then please take a centenary youth work out Gift Aid envelope or if you would rather give via your bank please let Phill Jackson know how much he needs to allocate to this fund.

 

Monday Extra October 29th

An open invitation to all to come to hear Dave Rogerson tell us about Doncaster Railways over time.  This will take place in the Café from 1.30 - 3pm and refreshments will be available.  Please do not hesitate to contact Sarah on 535747 if a lift is needed to and from the Café.

 

Day of Celebration

The Sheffield Diocese are holding a day of Celebration of Vocation and Diversity on Saturday 20th October from 9 - 3.30pm.  There will be guest speakers including Revd Dr Guli Francis-Dehqani, Rosemarie Davidson-Gotobed (National Minority Ethnic Vocations Officer) and Dawn Lewinson who is the Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion.  There will be food, drink and music (free) for all that attend. Charities and Missions

The charity for October & November is for theJust Finance Foundation.  Its president is the Archbishop of Canterbury who founded the Mustard Seed Appeal in 2016.  So far 750 volunteers and front line staff have been trained by the Foundation to work in their local communities by supporting people in debt.  It is estimated that 1 in 6 people in theUKare in debt, and 5 in 6 are not seeking the help that they need.  TheJust Finance Foundationaction seeks to create a financial system that is fair, accessible and open to all.
