Morning Services

At 8.30am there is a traditional Book of Common Prayer communion service in the Chapel followed by breakfast served in the Café. 10.30am service is a contemporary style service with groups for children and youth. Tea & Coffee is available in the Café afterwards.

 

6.00pm Evening Service

A quiet reflective service in the chapel.

 

City Celebration Sunday

You are invited to join the City Celebration Sunday 15th April.
The event will take place at The Powerhouse,ChristChurch,Thorne Road,Doncaster at6.00pm.  This will be a celebration of the many answers to prayer which has been seen over the years in our Borough and the guest speaker is Jonas Eyles from Alive Grantham.

 

Closer 7.30pm

Tonight at 7.30pm we have our monthly Closer service. This service is for anyone who is interested in drawing closer to God through prayer, worship and listening. There will be an extended opportunity to sing God's praises with live music, there will be plenty of opportunities to listen for God's voice to us, there may well be some mini sermons, we will pray for others and there will be the opportunity to receive prayer for blessing and healing yourself.

Chit Chat

Chit Chat will take place thisMonday 16th Aprilbetween

1.30 till 3.00pm, in the church cafe. Those coming will have the opportunity to meet with others for a chat, over a hot drink and biscuits. Members of the church family are there to welcome and chat. If you know of anyone you think would like to come please ask them! If anyone needs a lift or would like to learn more about Chit Chat, please ring Sarah Rogerson on 01302 535747.

 

Fuse Youth Café

Fuse meets on Tuesday 17th April at 7.00pm. Fuse Youth Café provides a safe and fun hang out place for teenagers to enjoy time with their friends.  Drinks and doughnuts are often in evidence with opportunities to take part in fun activities and have the potential to explore matters of faith.  Please pray for Fuse Youth Café as they meet each week. If you know of any teenagers who might be interested in coming along please invite them.

 

Refuel

EveryThursdaythere is a weekly event designed to give a mid week spiritual, emotional and physical refuel. Meeting at3pmin themeeting room. Refuel will start with a short reading from scripture followed by a few inspirational thoughts. Then we can relax while listening to worship music in the awareness of God's love and peace. Finishing with the opportunity to receive prayer ministry in a relaxed way in order to complete the mid-week refuel.

Morning Prayer/Prayer Requests

Morning Prayer is held daily in the Chapel at the following times:

Monday 10.15 Tuesday, Thursday and Friday Morning Prayer is at 9.30 am.  Saturdays Morning Prayer is at 9.00 am, if you are unable to get to Morning Prayer, you can pray and read scripture online:   https://www.churchofengland.org/prayer-worship/join-us-in-daily-prayer.aspx 

On Wednesday mornings we have a service of Holy Communion in the Chapel at 9.30 am.

If you have a specific prayer request please fill in a slip and pop it in the prayer box. If you have an urgent and emergency prayer request please text 07493191852 with details of your prayer request.  If you would like to be one of the people who prays for any of these prayer requests, come along to morning prayer or text your name and the phrase "I'm happy to pray"  to 07493191852.

 

 

Mental Health Awareness Day

On Saturday 28th April between9.30am and4.00pm we will be hosting a Mental Health Awareness Day at St Francis. This is an introduction to supporting people with mental health issues in faith communities. If you would like more information about the course there are leaflets with abooking form in the entrance hall and Café. The cost of this course is £10, tea and coffee is provided but you are asked to bring your own lunch.

 

CMS Lent Boxes

Please can you give your Church Mission Society Lent boxes to Mary Pegler now that Easter is over.  Thank you.

 

Walk4Julie

Barbara and Alan Homar are organizing another sponsored walk this year which will take place onSunday 22nd April.  It will start at2.00pmfrom St Francis church and go round theLakeside. Refreshments will again be available in the café after the walk.

 

APCM

The Annual Parochial Church Meeting will take place at church on Wednesday 25th April at 7.30pm.  Please could all ministry leaders compile a report for the APCM and get it to Liz (email preferred) by Wednesday 18th March at the latest.  Thank you.

The APCM is an important meeting in the life of the church where we reflect upon how things have been for the last year and look forward with faith to the year ahead. This is also a meeting where we have important votes on several matters and elections for Church Wardens, PCC and Deanery Synod representatives. Come along on the 25th and if you want to have a vote please make sure you are on theelectoral roll. Liz is the current Electoral Roll Officer.

 

Church Flowers

June Binns has decided to stand down from flower arranging.  Our thanks to June for all the time and dedication she has put into the flower arranging over the years.

We are now looking for volunteers to help with the flower arranging in church.  If you are interested in helping with this then please let Liz know.  Thank you.

 

Monday Extra

At the request of those who come to the JOY events on four Mondays of each month, we are now going to holdMonday Extra,in any month where there is a fifth Monday. This will take place from 1.30 to 3pm in the church café. Each Monday Extra will be different. OnApril 30th, we will hold our first one. We are thrilled to be having an illustrated talk on Garden Birds from Geoff Facer, a bird lover and coincidentally Joy Thackeray's brother. All are very welcome to join us. If anyone needs a lift, please let Sarah Rogerson know on 5353747.

Co-op Local Community Fund

If you have a Co-op membership card and show it when you shop in the Co-op you will receive 5% of what you spend on Co-op own brand goods put into your Co-op Membership account. An additional 1% goes into the Co-op Local Community Fund. This fund supports several charities.JOYis one of them. If you already have a card you can go online and choose theJOYproject if you wish to support activities for the Just Older Youngsters in our Community.   If you do not have a Blue Co-op membership card, can we encourage you to get one (costs £1). If you need any online help with choosing your charity ask Marlene on Sundays or Liz in the office.

 

Ecclesiastical Insurance  

This scheme has now been extended until December 2018. Ecclesiastical Insurance are celebrating their 130th anniversary. Charities and Missions - NEW

During April and May we will be supporting theLeprosy Missionproject'Break the Chains'inNiger,West Africa, one of the poorest countries in the world.  InNigersomeone with leprosy endures terrible stigma and may be hidden away for many years.  The project is 3- pronged. It aims to provide education for the children, and job training for the young people so that they can then earn a living. Also, they wish to drill a borehole to provide a clean and reliable water supply to Danja village. Please give generously to'Break the Chains'and help to remove the stigma of leprosy.
