Morning Services

At 8.30am there is a traditional Book of Common Prayer communion service in the Chapel followed by breakfast served in the Café. The 10.30am service is a more informal service with groups for children and youth. Tea & Coffee is available in the Café afterwards.

 

Bishop Patrick's Annual Visit

We will be delighted to welcome back Bishop Patrick fromUgandaTodayto give us an update ofAgapeNewSchool, the Children's Homes, our Sponsor Children and the work of Agape Outreach Ministries. This year our fund raising initiative will be the sale of items of clothing in the school colours. You can purchase these in churchbefore and after the 10.30am service. Copies of Bishop Patrick's latest book will be available too.

 

6.00pm Evening Service

A quiet, reflective service in the chapel.

 

City Celebration - Sunday 15th October - NEW
The next City Celebration will be held on Sunday 15th October at 6pm. This event will be held at Christchurch, Thorne Road DN1 2HG seeing many denominations join together to worship in unity.
The team atChristchurch will be hosting, and it is set to be a great evening.

 

Closer 7.30pm

Tonight at 7.30pm we have our monthly Closer service. This service is for anyone who is interested in drawing closer to God through prayer, worship and listening. There will be an extended opportunity to sing God's praises using YouTube worship songs, there will be plenty of opportunities to listen for God's voice to us, there may well be some mini sermons, we will pray for others and there will be the opportunity to receive prayer for blessing and healing yourself.

Chit Chat

Chit Chatwill take place thisMonday 16th October between1.30 till 3.00pm, in the church cafe. Those coming will have the opportunity to meet with others for a chat, over a hot drink and biscuits. There will be members of the church family there to welcome and chat. If you know of anyone you think would like to come please ask them! If anyone needs a lift or would like to learn more about Chit Chat, please do ring Sarah Rogerson on 01302 535747.

 

Fuse Youth Café

Fuse meets on Tuesday 17th October at 7.00pm. Fuse Youth Café provides a safe and fun hang out place for teenagers to enjoy time with their friends.  Drinks and doughnuts are often in evidence with opportunities to take part in fun activities and have the potential to explore matters of faith.  Please pray for Fuse Youth Café as they meet each week. If you know of any teenagers who might be interested in coming along please invite them.

 

Refuel: A New Weekly Event

EveryThursdaythere is a new weekly event designed to give a mid week spiritual, emotional and physical refuel. We will meet at3pmin the comfortable setting of themeeting room. Refuel will start with a short reading from scripture followed by a few inspirational thoughts. Then we can relax while listening to beautiful worship music in the awareness of God's love and peace. Refuel finishes with the opportunity to receive prayer ministry in a relaxed way in order to complete the mid- week refuel.

 

The Bundle

On Friday 20th October at7.00pm there will be a performance of 'The Bundle' at Balby(Doncaster) Quaker Meeting House by Journeymen Theatre. The Bundle is an asylum seeker's story.  The performance is free but donations are welcomed for organisations working closely with asylum seekers and refugees in theUK.  Tickets for the performance are available from Lorna on 01302 343002 or 341801.

 

Work Day

OnSaturday October 21stbetween10am and 1.30pmthere is a practical opportunity to make a real difference to our building and grounds. There are a variety of jobs to suit all ages and abilities that will help keep the church and grounds looking smart and well cared for. Please sign up so that we can make preparations for the work day.

Morning Prayer/Prayer Requests

Morning Prayer is held daily in the Chapel at the following times:

Monday 10.15 Tuesday, Thursday and Friday Morning Prayer is at 9.30 am.  Saturdays Morning Prayer is at 9.00 am, if you are unable to get to Morning Prayer, you can pray and read scripture online:   https://www.churchofengland.org/prayer-worship/join-us-in-daily-prayer.aspx 

On Wednesday mornings we have a service of Holy Communion in the Chapel at 9.30 am.

If you have a specific prayer request please fill in a slip and pop it in the prayer box. If you have an urgent and emergency prayer request please text 07493191852 with details of your prayer request.  If you would like to be one of the people who prays for any of these prayer requests, come along to morning prayer or text your name and the phrase "I'm happy to pray"  to 07493191852.

 

Ecclesiastical Insurance

Ecclesiastical Insurance are celebrating their 130th anniversary. CrossroadsMissionLaunch

Sunday 22nd October sees the launch of the Doncaster Crossroads Mission Launch at St James Church at4pm.  This will be anInternational Bring and Share Mealfollowed by anInternational Dance.  The meal and dancing will reflect the International flavour of our congregations and communities in and around theDoncaster area.  Come in your national costume to add colour to the gathering.  The food will be in the church hall followed by dancing in the church.

 

Missionin Lakeside23rd - 28th October

Volunteers needed for: Monday 23rd , 1-3pm litter pick and prayer walk around the lake; Wednesday 25th, 3-5pm handing out invitations in Nostell Place and by the Lake; Saturday 28th, 10am-3pm pop-up community cafe by the fountain at Lakeside.

Sign-Up sheets (with further details about each event and the volunteers needed) are now in the welcome area.

 

Operation Christmas Child

Boxes for Operation Christmas Child will be compiled onSaturday 4th November in the hall.  In preparation for this you are encouraged to collect items for gift boxes ready to bring in for October.

Fairtrade Fair - New

The annual Fairtrade Fair will take place on Tuesday 7th November between10.30am and4.30pm atCantleyMethodistChurch. There will be a number of Fairtrade stalls and refreshments. Donations for refreshments wil be sent to Traidcraft Exchange to help the suppliers and their families.  For further information please contact Wilma on 770503.

 

Co-op Local Community Fund

Link to select St Francis Churchas your cause by signing into your online account at www.coop.co.uk/membership and select St Francis Church project. If you haven't already registered please do so.  All funds raised will be for new equipment for Integrate and Integrate EXTRA.

 

Charity for October and November

Charitable donations for October and November will go towards the purchase of adefibrillatorto be locatedinNostell Place. We are trying to raise£700towards the purchase of adefibrillatorin the shopping area.  This is half of the £1400 needed and also includes training.  It is hoped that the defibrillator will be placed outside one of the buildings inNostell Placemaking it accessible to the public in case of emergency.  All the local shops have been approached and some donations have been received already.  This is an important piece of equipment and could be the difference between life and death.
