We are seeking to recruit an assistant administrator to work in the office at St Francis Church for 4 hours a week paid at the living wage of £8.75 an hour.

The Role

Administration duties:


To have a presence in the church building, performing the following duties:

  • Liaising effectively with your Line Manager (Parish Administrator)

  • Acting as a first point of contact for users of the building

  • Facilitating effective communication, dealing with all enquiries relating to the use of the building and access to building by occasional users and trades people carrying out routine maintenance

  • Ordering consumables as necessary

  • Producing orders of service as required and ensuring that the service sheets are kept organised.

  • Assisting the Administrator with paperwork, photocopying and correspondence.

  • Managing the display of publicity material in the church building

  • Assisting Administrator with the generation of the 2-monthly duty rota

  • Any other ad-hoc tasks that may occur from time to time

Skills, experience and personal attributes


  • Ability to be highly motivated, flexible and able to work unsupervised with initiative

  • Organised and methodical (including ability to prioritise and multi-task)

  • Ability to manage time effectively

  • English Language Qualification

  • Computer literate.  Should have excellent word processing skills, and a working knowledge of spreadsheets, database (e.g. Excel & Access) and computerised accounts

  • Accurate

  • Effective communication skills

  • Approachable and friendly

  • Calm under pressure

  • Maintain confidentiality

  • An understanding of and commitment to the vision of St. Francis Church
